Death Drive

Sylvia Gjermundsen has embroidered the word Thanatos, the Greek god of death, onto the back of her jacket. At sixteen, she murdered a priest. Now she has escaped from prison, taking a prison officer hostage. When the officer is found soon afterwards with his throat slit, a major murder investigation is launched by the Western Norway Police District.

Detective Edvard Matre is put in charge of the manhunt. He expects Sylvia to be caught within days, but the case proves far more complex than he imagined. The trail leads Matre and his team into a tangled landscape of betrayal, violence, and abuse. Gradually, it becomes clear that Sylvia is not only running from something. She is heading towards something. Or someone.

Then another murder is committed.
