The Viking Farm
Did you know that in the Viking age, almost everyone lived on farms and that children didn’t go to school? Or that many people were born into slavery, while wealthy children were sent away to be raised by foster parents? We accompany town girl Tora when she goes to visit her cousin Ravn. Twelve short stories take us to the burial mounds, into the woods to fell timber, and we learn how the Vikings prepared for Yule, how they sacrificed to their gods and what daily chores life on a farm consisted of.
The stories are based on what archaeologists andscientists have unearthed through their examinations of graves, jewellery, sagas, flower pollen, house remains teeth and skeletons.
