
Sverre Mørkhagen (born 1949) holds a cand.philol. degree from the University of Oslo.
He worked as a journalist and communications adviser, and spent many years in publishing as an editor and manager, before becoming a full-time author. His books include Ibsen (2019).
Between 2009 and 2014, he completed the first comprehensive account of Norwegian emigration to America in 60 years: Farewell Norway. Emigration to America 1825–1975 (2009), The American Dream. Immigration from Norway 1825–1900 (2012) and Det norske Amerika. Norsk innvandring i USA og Canada 1900–1975 (2014).
He has also published Kristins verden. Om norsk middelalder på Kristin Lavransdatters tid (1995) and Peer Gynt. Historie, sagn og «forbandet Digt» (1997).
