Sverre Bjørstad Graff is from Sortland. He is a journalist, writer and illustrator.
Graff is widely travelled and has visited more than 80 countries over two decades as a journalist. He enjoys delving into archives to uncover remarkable true stories and thinks of himself as a history detective.
He has always loved wordplay, puns, funny situations and drawing. In 2001, he began drawing cartoons for Absurdgalleriet, bringing all these interests together. The result is more than 1,500 absurd cartoons that turn the world on its head.
A few unusual facts about Graff: Mother Teresa wrote a prayer about him. When he was fourteen, he appeared in a newspaper in Africa, which led to more than 400 letters proposing marriage. He owns the pink hat worn by Kate Winslet in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
The Dinosaur Who Wanted to Be a Pirate was his first children’s book.
